Shanga Shangaa

Situated in a historic coffee plantation of Arusha, Tanzania in East Africa, Shanga is a heartwarming project dedicated to supporting and empowering people with disabilities to live independent lives. Shanga Shangaa Ltd, founded by Saskia Rechsteiner, is a successful socially enterprise which employs over 50 people to create unique, high quality handmade jewelry, glassware and home-wares using recycled materials. The distinctive Shanga products are sold in Tanzania and all over the world, with profits generated being reinvested back into further employment, training and empowerment of disabled people; development of new products and increasing recycling activities and awareness.
